Default Heat Wrapped Turbo with Heat Shield.

I am sorry there is not much to see. This is because after wrapping the turbo it was possible to refit the heat shield on the heat shield bracket. This was done to help reduce under bonnet temperatures and retain heat but is probably over kill.
First the turbo is wrapped in a woven heat wrap material that comes in the kit. This is held in place with wire that forms part of the kit. This is then wrapped with the silver heat map material that is held in place with clips that form part of the kit. With care this can be done very neatly and there is enough material in the kit to do two cars if you use part of the roll of exhaust wrap that forms part of the kit.
If anybody wants more information please make contact.
If you look in For Sale you will see I have a kit for sale.
The benefits of wrapping the turbo are less thermal gradient.
Reduced under bonnet temperatures.
Quicker spool.
Because heat is retained in the exhaust section of the turbo, it gets to optimum operating temperature quicker.

Turbo wrapping is for chavs and its just to make the underneath of your bonnet look pretty, its no different than neon lights and stickers etc.

The coolant pipes are wrapped as is the header tank to reduce under bonnet temperatures. The coolant tank is also insulated from the inlet manifold. That too helps to stop heat transfer to the inlet manifold close to 1 and 3 cylinders.
Using an infra red temperature gun I found that the manifold at cylinder 1 could be more than 20 deg C higher than above cylinder 2.

Keep the hot bits hot and the cold bits cool.

Wrapped my turbo recently and believe it or not the difference is very noticeable. Anyone who's noticed the first blast of the day never seems as hard as subsequent ones when the turbo has some heat in, will know what I'm on about..!

I even noticed an improvement in throttle response off boost for some reason..!
