Genuine Subaru Parts ......
What value!!
Rear Brake Pads for my car = £51 inclusive
They last 80,000 miles with me which = 0.064p a mile = 64p for every 1,000 miles = £6:82 a year
Why bother going elsewhere, and paying more, for inferior goods??

Looks like you been ripped off Pete
I never paid that for my rear pads
Where do you think Subaru get them from, they don't make them themselves
You have effectively paid 30 quid for a box that says Subaru on the side
IIRC Nissan 200 SX pads are the same too

A) standard pads don't last many miles
B) they don't know what they are talking about
and if I do have to change them in 3000 miles time what make/type should I fit?

I haven't bought them yet - but, I was going to - tomorrow!!
£51 isn't bad for 80,000 miles trouble free motoring is it now?
And I know they will fit and not squeal, like some 3rd party £40 crap will ...
However, I will ring my local Factors tomorrow and see what they say - but, if I pay an extra £10 for proper stuff why worry?
It's not as if I'm paying £30+ for a drop of Oil ..... now, that REALLY is madness!!!

no Pete you will be paying 30 quid for a throwaway cardboard box with Subaru written on it
Then again you could always flog the box on ebay and get your 30 quid back

Hunt and ye will find the Subaru OE parts, but placed in the wrong boxes with the wrong price tag....
Blueprint/Unipart Air filters...it is the same as the genuine Subaru Air filter, and they are cheaper.
Blueprint Cambelt Idlers: Its the same as the orginal Subaru - same make bearings...half the price.
Blueprint Cambelt tensioner: Guess...yes same again...£50 cheaper (if you originally paid retail).
Cambelt: Gates, Subaru: Gates. But the other one is £20 cheaper.
I even got a Blueprint air filter for my NSX...compared it against the OE Honda, yup both made by denso, same filter media, same plastic surround.

pete, is the box from subaru standard though? or has it been modified with "stronger tape" or bubble wrap ....dont accept anything that looks like its been inhanced.
oh and on a lighter more personal note (slightly off topic) has your house been "modified" with UPVC windows.central heating etc, or was it as the manufacturer made it??? just courious mate.

Never checked, as I ended up with Unipart pads (which aren't OE, but OE spec...E approved, R90 and all that tosh). They may do them, and they may or may not be the exact OE pads...don't know 'til you try. That's the gamble with going cheap
Anyhoo: for reference: Welcome to Blue Print - The Parts for Japanese & Korean Cars
Have previously sourced them from our local Unipart Automotive motor factors.

LOL Pete! Stop bloody baiting the forum
All these fish are jumping on the hook already.
Besides, I agree with you. I only paid similar for my standard rears.
Now the fronts, *cough*, gulp, etc, etc, cost me £160, hahaha.
Ahhh, the wonderful world of modded bits.
Webmaster! Enable my orange name at once or else!

No baiting ..... I did think £51 was reasonable for Subaru Rear Brake Pads - as you say, when I renewed the Fronts and Discs they were over £225
Just don't want to gamble with Brake Components see?

Can I add my 2 pence worth?
A lot of genuine wear and tears parts are priced according to Subaru Europe's MRP policy - this means that prices were reduced about 2 years ago to compete with premium aftermarket products.
The parts also are covered by a 3 years or 60000 mile warranty against manufacturing defect, including labour if fitted at a Subaru dealer. They will fit first time and pads will include shims if required - not having to reuse old shims with new pads!
And as for the same parts being supplied in the aftermarket but not in Subaru boxes - well there are "matching quality" parts out there, but generally these are around the same price as genuine.
Now matching quailty is a EU standard thing - meaning that under that last BER regulations non genuine manufactures could compete with genuine parts as long as they were officially made to the same standard. If this is the case then a Matching Quility Cert will be available when you purchase these non genuine parts. If it's not then they do not match genuine.
So genuine parts all the way for me!

From Blueprint's website:
Products are sourced from leading aftermarket and OE manufacturers around the world. Only products of the highest quality make it into the Blue Print range, and as a result all new Blue Print parts are classified as “Matching Quality” under official European regulations. This means Blue Print parts can be used during routine servicing or repair without invalidating the vehicle warranty. Some items in the range are remanufactured or reconditioned by specialist suppliers and as such cannot be classified as “Matching Quality”.
