how do i become a rally driver
ive got a little car that im going to dip my toe into trackdays later this year, but my real passion has allways been for rallying but i can not find anything about doing it?
Does anyone know if there is a trackday type equivilent for rallying either on mud or tarmac?
Ive heard of road-rallying but its hard to find any information about it and i hear they do it on open public roads?
Any help or pointers would be appreciated, i live in the south east.....
cheers

I suggest you start at the MSA website and click on rallying
http://www.msauk.org/
You'll need very deep pockets and g arms to match !
Good Luck

First step would be to find your nearest motorclub that's into rallying.
Best place to look for info is on the Motor Sports Association website www.msauk.org
12 cars and then road rallying are probably the best way to get into stage rallying - this will get you familiar with the technicallities of time controls and roadbooks, which you will need to understand in some way! These events will also help you find a co-driver/navigator, and the people involved will be more than willing to give you advice.
12 cars are 'navigational excersises' (against the clock) that require a co-driver to decipher the route and tell you which direction to go in. They are normally held on back roads ('yellows' on ordinance survey maps), so there is usually little traffic around. The clues can be difficult, so although they are generally timed at 30mph, several minutes of plotting the route can mean a bit of a mad dash to the next time control! Road rallys are merely longer 12 cars, and can have more than 12 cars competing.
Once you've had a taster, then single venue events are probably the cheepest way to get started (but normally tarmac).

Just type rally school into google, that will bring loads up.
There good fun and a must before spending any money.
Rallying is one of them sports where you either have it or you dont.
You cant be tought how to drive a rally car, only assessed and told what you are dong wrong.
Really you should start with banger racing, loads cheaper and loadsa fun, then if your good at that, try auto grass, if you can do that well then yes, go for rallying but like said above, its very exspensive to be competative.
That would be my advise.
£10-20k car that you could right off any second?
