Do the wires behind look standard... where to the go off to..
Trace them and find out.. Could be absolutely anything from an after market fog light to some sad neons underneath that the last owner had..
Certainly not standard anyway.

It's the low boost switch for the Turbo.
I have always had mine on low boost to get a good mpg and give longevity to the engine - I suggest leaving it in the Low Boost position (the LED on the dash will light if it's in High Boost) so, no LED light = GOOD!!

It's placed there by Subaru and removed by the Dealer - unless, like me, you ask to have it retained.

Could be anything from flamer kit, fog switch or electric mirrors, but definately not standard...
I prefer pete's idea though

LOL @ pslewis.
Are you mistaking it for the button you press on your mx-5 that lifts the roof up?

Does the switch have 3 positions? latch into position one way, push back out when pressed the other and a central position?
If so you may have a clifford or some other non standard alarm and this is the switch that toggles the alarm functions.

Do NOT press this switch above 100 mph. It is the parachute release button.
