Question

Hi, 1st posting - so be gentle!

Longtime admirer of all things Subaru and am now in a position where finances might allow a purchase. Am going to look at a '94 UK spec Wagon tomorrow that is up for the 6K mark.

Any things to check for, look out for etc?? Not the most mechanicaly minded person so telling me to look at oily bits could be problematic!

Insurance at the moment might foil my attempts, best so far is just over 1300 from Elephant. Have done most of the ones mentioned in the other threads... London postcode and only 2 yrs NCB seems to be the trouble.

Any thoughts or comments welcome

Cheers

p.s. Am 6 foot 6, will I fit in the drivers seat of a scooby?

I'm also 6 foot 6, around 17 stone, and fit in my MY00 perfectly. Maybe just lucky my shape matches, but the bucket seats are the most comfortable car seats I've ever owned.

May be a bit tighter in a car with a sunroof though, since you usually lose an inch or two headroom...

You should get into the MY94. I'm 6'4 and heavy build but fitted. Later models were a prob for me, leccy window switches were moved.

I got a Prodrive Recaro and a smaller steering wheel so I fitted perfectly. Apparently I looked like a Silver Back behind the wheel before. Mate who's 6'6 fits with loadsa space as does a mate who's 6'3.

The early cars have the larger turbo so more lag. But when you hit boost oh it's fun. Easy to keep in the power band aswell.

When cold the drive train is juddery, so if you have a test drive and it does this don't worry. Normal until warm.

Have a look at the SIDC faq. Fantastic source of info.

Enjoy.
