I have had these on my scoob (MY00) and not really had any problems

They were on Compomotive MO's and with the car fully laden (me, missus, 3 kids, boot full) then on reasonable size dips in the road you get the occasional rub on the arches

On my own in the car, it was fine

I have a friend who's recently fitted this size to his MY00 classic.

The car has optional factory fit bilstein suspension, so rides at a similar height as a v5 sti. The only issue he's reported is, on just one occasion, hearing slight tyre rub, on one side at the rear, when fully loaded with 4 adults.

I currently run with 215/40 17s on my v5 type r but had planned to fit 45s in the future as I think they would give more compliant handling on our shoddy road surfaces.

I have this size as well, no probs so far, I choose this size as Goodyear do the 91Y reinforced sidewall Eagle F1. Make sure your offset is around 48, then they should'nt stick out too far.

Cheers again.
The offset is 45 and the width of the wheel is 6.5 not the usual 7

I do have problems, but my offset is pretty extreme and the suspension has seen better days. Lowered about 35 mm. Tyres Rub with just one in the back.

Edit: just noticed date of original post

I have got 215/45w17 on Prodrive Wheels, do have some rubbing issues, but this is on the mudflaps that have been fitted rather than the wheel arch.

I have 215/40/17s on STi 7 wheels on my classic with KW coilovers lowered 40mm front 35mm rear and 45s would not fit in the arches. 40s fit fine and no rubbing even on hard cornering.

Yes, 215 max. My mate got stung importing some 225 width alloys from Ireland for his classic 2000 UK. The guy said they would fit, so purchased for nearly a grand, then nearly destroyed the wheel arch, and the tyres. The guy from Ireland could not be contacted again. So tried fitting hardend shocks at the back with no luck, still rubbed. Ended up selling the rims for £600 as a wide arch kit was looking too expensive.
