Whats the scoobys biggest fault...
In your view?
For Me its got to be the BRAKES, the car looks spot on, it goes like stink but try and give the brakes a hard time and give up very quickly. Why give a car lots of nice power and not match the brakes
Anyone else got something that bugs them

Own a newage - agree on the stonechips. Also the ABS seems to stay ABS'd a fraction too long and can be scary as for a split second it feels like you will not stop. Previous on non Subaru cars it hasn't felt like that.

insurance is the biggest fault! i (when im 20 in a month) can insure a porker, supra tt, ect ect even up to a 911 alot cheaper than a 3.5k classic wrx! its a joke. suppose it stops the 106gti crew from buying them tho.....

it's not just subaru's with soft paint, go to the lexus forum, it is the main complaint along with corroding alloys, my main gripe would have to be the interior quality, but i came from an is200, so expectations were high i suppose, but the handling and performance more than makes up for it.

i have had a bug eye 01 wrx, 03 blob eye sti and now an 06 hawk eye sti.
I agree on the brakes, they are fine for day to day driving offering a good compromise, good braking from the off and good stopping power, but start to push the brakes on a track or lots of braking on a long road trip/ energetic b road driving, and there is bad fade. Its been the same in all 3 models. Pads, discs, lines and fluid have made a world of difference, but something that could have been on from day one, especially on the sti variant.
Suspension and alignment. What is it with the terrible alignment from day one? TSL alignment makes the car feel totally different, even on standard springs, change the springs, and even add 18" wheels and its worlds apart from the out the box set up, again why!
My last complaint is Subaru Uk, if they really exist. Why dont they follow a lead from mitsu uk, offer some different models inline with the various MR editions. We get the RB320, WR1 etc, but other than importing a spec C etc there are no real variations to the Sti. Why subaru uk dont look at something inline with mitsu is annoying!

I must say that, as a former owner of '04 WRX, I've noticed some problems with braking efficiency. But, now, on my '04 STI with much stronger and larger Brembo brakes, I really don't have any kind of similar problems. Maybe it's how U use brakes... Basicly, a lot's of racers in Rally Gr.N leave stock brakes on it... They only change pads, not everyone.
From my point of view, there are 2 cruical bad spots on scoobys. Both of them related to engine. First is position of IC, which on higher speeds (above 110-120 mph) became an InterHeater instead of InterCooler, and second is overheating of third cilinder due to the too close turbo charger position.
