400bhp / ton track car

The XTR2 kit car is a track car which can be road registerd. It uses a Suzuki Hyabusa engine/gearbox mid mounted and mated to a quaife diff.
It costs £13000 inc VAT (Kit). He assures me this includes every bolt and nut and even brake fluid. It is £1800 extra for adjustable dampers and roll bars and brembsport 4 pot brake kit. In addition the rear wing is £600 and you obviously need an engine and gearbox (and instruments) (and your own wheels / tyres). The car is officially being released at the Autosport show in Jan. I suggest you take a look at their web site (It looks stunning.)

I spoke to richard at westfield yeterday. He said they source their own engines for £6000 (new) and second hand you can get one between £2000 and £3000. Alternatively you could buy a running bike for £4000 and break it for parts yourself. Apparently he is very confident about the new car and has entered it in the Nurburgring 24 hours for 2002.
I am very interested in this car beacuse I was looking for a dedicated track car which is not a "saloon on steriods". This car will not eat tyres / discs and I think it is the future of track days. What do you think?

Looks very nice.
Being bike engined it's going to be slow above 100MPH though, they all are! You need torque to overcome the drag up there.
Below 100MPH it will be very fast i would think.
My westie will kick the crap out of it on a fast track, on a tight and twisty one that thing should be faster. If they are sticking with the bike box and clutch expect plenty of clutch changes!
Mine is for sale if your interested.
