Question any problems with high mileage scooooobs??

Hi All,

I am taking the plunge and finally looking at buying another scoob Not sure why its taken so long after selling the old one

I'm looking for late model classic (MY00) wagon but really struggling to find one with decent low (ish) mileage. There seem to be loads of saloons but no wagons!!!

Whats the general opinion on scoobys when they get upto the 100,000m mark? Are there problems in store or do they go on and on?? I usually don't worry too much about mileage but would be good to hear some other opinions....

Cheers,
Doobiedoo (beeeedoooooooooooooooo!!!)

there was a thread posted a few weeks ago similar to yours - the general feel was that yes they are good for well over 150,000 miles - if its been well serviced.

I'm sure there will be those who disagree with me, but I personally expect to get 100,000 miles out of a car without serious issue, providing it's looked after correctly. I don't doubt that a well maintained Scooby will do this comfortably.

However, I think if i were to get a car with over 100k miles and it did conk out, part of me would be saying "well, you can't complain, not as if it's not had a decent innings"

The point is a) If you go for a high miler, get one that's been loved
b) Settle on a price that gives you some headroom should something expensive go wrong!

thanks for the thoughts people... as I say I don't normally worry about mileage. I have bought cars in the past with 97k, 85k and 75k and they've all been dreams (the 97k one was even a ford orion and it went on for ever )

My problem is, while I don't doubt there is a nice low mileage wagon out there somewhere, I am far too impatient and want my new subaru NOW!!

Patience Dooby. One will be along soooon.

I was lOOking for the same age, spec as yourself, preferably an STi v6 wagon. Which turned out to be lOOking for a rocking horse ****.

In the end i sold a kidney and bought a newage STi.

Typically, after i bought that, a couple came along.

yeah thats it exactly. I never realised that classic wagons are so less common than saloons.

I think the general karma is bad.... I went all the way down to the new forest to look at one at the weekend and got stuck in so much traffic I had to turn back!! Can't face that journey again but its the only decent looking wagon for sale at the mo!

Grrrrrrr.

I was tempted with another saloon (my last one was a MY99) but I kinda like the idea of a completely standard (looking) wagon which goes like the starship enterprise! Stealth
