Some engines do last some don't. Seems that there is an issue with some classic engines going pop though.My old P1 has done around 60k now and my brother (he owns it now) thinks the engine is on the way out.
If I was looking for a P1 I'd get one with a blown engine already or a very recent rebuild from someone like API.

Amego, bite David's hand off. The only sticking point I can see is it doesn't appear to have a full service history. But with a new engine from API, and a PROPER warranty it's very keenly priced. Just a quick look shows that the wheels alone would be worth over £500 quid, a rebuilt engine from a 'safe pair of hands' would cost over 3k easily.
