Default sump gasket /paste

i think my sump is leaking what is used to seal it gasket or paste and how hard of a job is it

any help would be great cheers

its rubber gaskets and there is a outer two inners and 5 or 6 bolts seals also

its fiddlerly but can be done at home

either side ya will need to remove air box etc or battery washer bottle to make ya life a bit more simle


done both side on mine and that a 95

sorry just got out of bed as i was on a night shift


lol read ya wrong i talking about rocker covers


never done a sump gasket

There is no gasket.

Use a quality sealant - NOT hylomar or the like. Don't use too much of it either.

3 bond 1215 grey is the best stuff.

Loctite do a good one too.

Never ever use silicone......

RCM sell it at about £15 a tube, but im sure if you scanned ebay you could get it a lot cheaper.

Any good motor factors should be able to get it as well.

It's sh1te!

Do the job once and do it right.

Using propiertry sealants on engine builds is asking for trouble....poor sealing, beads coming loose in the hot oil and collecting on the oil pipe pick up strainer etc.....

Hylomar is ok for sealing an old gasket that you cant be bothered to replace on a non critical application but for anything else it is asking for trouble.
