Impreza backbox onto a Forester?
I've got the option of getting an Impreza backbox if it will fit onto my new Forester (2001 S Turbo). I take it it will be a bit short or can these things be doctored by an exhaust fitter to go on?

Bit short, and the hanger-uppers aren't really in the right place.
It could probably be made to fit, but it might look crap.
Plenty of take-off Forester ones over on Subaru Forester Owners Forum - Powered by vBulletin (well, not exactly plenty, but they come up from time to time as people get aftermarket ones). Alternatively you could get an aftermarket one yourself, like the Hayward and Scott one.
Get yourself registered over there and there will be plenty of advice...

Its not just the hangers, the tailpipe isn't long enough and ends in front of the bumper, also the pipe from centre to rear box is the wrong angle and pulls the exhaust down at the diff, I know as I'm running a classic STi back box on my forester right now with lengthened hangers whilst I cut and shut another Impreza STi box to fit properly. (using my rusty old back box as a template. Classic is closest fit to your 01 not new-age which has the hanger in front of the box in the wrong place and it would need extending even if you just wanted to use longer hangers.
