Hi there Iam looking at an sti 1996 tomorow.
Do all Sti's have red top engines?
Also Sti's dont have the spot lights in the front bumper?
The one iam looking at dose.

All but the Ver I (1993-94) have red inlet manifolds, I think..... But the red paint is known to flake off (there should be evidence of it though). STi's do have front foglights......

I think the v2 sti (sept 95-aug96) is the only sti not to have a red inlet manifold (ra's also differ). Every other sti up to current should have a red inlet manifold. And yes, the original paint does flake off with age and not due the engine running hot as another newbie told everyone!
If you're handy with a paint brush, you can tidy it up with some brake calliper paint.
If I were you, i'd view the car, get the chassis number, come back and post it on here ans see if it matches up with the model it's supposed to be.
