Default WRX Import engines ?

Can you get a Red-top WRX import engine or were the Red-tops only fitted to the Sti engines ?

The reason I ask is that i'm possibly after a used engine for my '96 WRX and have seen a WRX engine for sale that has a Red-top ?

you can put a red top in yours it would be better as they are a sti engine but you need to make sure it is a real sti red top as people paint them.

Check the engine code then? Better than relying on the inlet manifold.

Right, the guy came back to me and said the engine code is EJ20 T

I told him i'm after the engine number/code to try and identify if it's an STi engine or not. He's addament(SP)that it's a WRX red top engine from a '96 !

Anyone tell me what the code should look like ?
