Fiat coupe 20v turbos? Anyone lost yet?
Recently bought a bug eye sti. Fitted a cat back exhaust, hks dump valve, induction kit and bleed valve. Had the same on my old fiat apart from a novi-tec chip on it. Always loved fast cars and before the fiat i had the same mods on mr2 turbos, 200sx's, and a 300zx tt and i would still say the fiat had the edge over all of them. Even the 300zx.
However I never managed to race an sti in my fiat and can't find a fiat thats willing to try now i've an sti! Used to waste wrx's on a rolling start and I hate to say it but the old italian rust bucket felt faster than my sti from decent speed(70 upwards) to top speed. The fiat could hit 110 in third and the sti only manages around 90. Although the sti's in gear alot less time.
Anyone had a play with one or any other suprising cars? 2.7 S4's? VR4's? Other wolves in sheeps clothing?

The point was I used to go on the fiat forum and everyone was sure they'd whoop an sti in a straight line. Cause i never got to race both cars side by side I just wondered if anyone else had and the out come?

Fair enough. Scooby kicks *** wether it's faster or not. Can't beat the engine noise or grip on offer. Still I'll let you no if I have that race.

mate dont be swayed away from your inital post by people not answering your question if u dont see the point in the thread dont post. is what i say
i once raced a very fast 20 v turbo but never found out what he was running
my car was an my05 uk sti running about 350 bhp and to say i felt like i was crawling past is an understatment
long strech of dc coming of an roundabout from about 30 up to 80.

Have a My06 STI PPP - a 20V turbo totally lost me, not from a standing start but from about 35 MPH around a roundabout and onto a straight piece of road. Was gutted ... but as many will say .. the UK spec is not that fast etc etc ...MArk

What makes you think he was ''running'' anything other than standard power? They are quick cars in their own right. They are capable of hitting 60mph in 6 seconds dead and 100mph in just over 14 seconds. Take away the wheel spin off the line and you have a rapid car which wouldn't be a mile away from being a match for your STi. The fact that you crawled past it probably meant it was standard

Yet again, I have to say that, the punctuation and grammar in these posts is abysmal! It's no wonder there is no pride in the country when you lot can't be bothered to write the written word down correctly. Your lives must be so dull and embarrassing knowing if someone asks you write something down how appalling it will look. Spend a little more time on your English and less with the cars, that's my advice.

Very different cars and very different drives.
Before I got my STI in March I drove a 350z. In a straight line and from a rolling start my 350z felt like it had more to offer until you hit the high end of the engine revs... but just because it felt faster doesn't mean it actually was. For general performance on the road there is no way I would keep up with my STI in my 350z. It felt heavier and was more tricky to keep on the road and not put in a tree at high speeds.
On a track, I'd have my 350z back. Depends what kind of drive you want and in terms of racing depends where and how.

FFS give the guy a break.
welcome to Scoobynet Pitty,
Fiat coupes are bloody quick even in standard form, dont worry about your STI being quicker in a straight line (it probably is anyway)
an STI over any given road will be able to put the power down better than the Fiat.
good luck with the car.

If you read the post, you will see I was giving a comparison from my own experience between an STI and a sports coupe. The point being you can't compare such different cars... a Fiat, a Nissan, a Mazda, a Toyota.... etc etc makes no odds.

The FIAT Coupe's a slippery little beggar. Not too much power as standard but a nice CD and a small x sectional area = at higher speeds it pretty much rocks.
However - How deperately do you want to lose your licence? If corners are involved, forget it. There are some maniacs on FCCUK that think the "coop" can be made to go around corners. Most/all agree that as standard it doesn't do a particularly fine job of it though.
Instead of an FC, I own a P1. I won't hammer it off the line 'cos I like my clutch and gearbox in the car, not in shards in the bottom of the gearbox or on the road.
Standard versus standard, I'd have an FC off the line and probably keep an advantage to 130-140+. Then we'd both be recovered for a rebuild.

i think what is important to mention here is that the fiat's engine is basically the audi 5 cylinder turbo engine... standard its a mental engine.. done up its ballistic..
shame it wasnt rear wheel drive i say!!
but yeah id rather own the impreza regardless of who comes out on top in a race!!!

It does make you smile, The way things/Posts pan out on here
I have owned various Scoobs some in Sti Form, Evo's, Nissan GtiR's, Mr2 Turbo's & a Shed load of Motorbikes.
Now compared to most cars Scoobs are fast, But they are not the be all & end all, It all depends on what you have been used to, Your driving Skills & even your driving stupidity.
They are a fullfilling, Pleasing & at times a thrilling drive, With Oodles of character & potential.
At some point we all get shown up by less engineered & lesser powered cars. Most of my pleasure comes from the Titivating, Cleaning & up-Keep (Well sometimes) & it is a pleasure to Drive (Assuming it's running right today !! ) Most of the Time, The sense of camaradery between most Subaru Owners all adds to the pleasure.
