All....

At my last service the dealer said I needed to change dics & pads on m,y fronts, this would be £600 discs and about £180 pads!!

Is there a better after market option? and should I be going to a backstreet garage to get them fitted?

Get some Performance Friction discs and pads - love them

A really good upgrade on the std for similar money too.

I fitted standard size 2 piece discs from Godspeed for 310 pound (granted, in a group buy) and Ferrodo DS2500 pads from Demon Tweeks, 170 pound. Very good set up, which took a very hard pounding at the Nurburgring last week with no problems.

Dont think the discs were much more than that without the group buy.

dont go the ds2500 route if doing any track work though IMO

If you don't want to go the 'Upgrade route', I have a set of OE Brembo pads front & rear with loads of life left in them. I went for the DS2500's and have no complaints.

This is the same situation I found myself in. For the price of standard discs and pads I got some performance friction 2pc discs, uprated pads, braided hoses etc from Alyn at AS performance. So much much better performance for same price - no brainer really!!!

p.s. if you want to save some cash could get uprated pads with similar 1pc discs from Alyn for a lot less than the £600 from a stealer!!
