jdm sti v7 - exhaust advice please
just got my hands on a jdm sti7 , and its oooooooooh so quiet it needs that scooby burble badly . want to fit a haywood and scott backbox and center section , but am unsure if this will cause any probs with engine running {ie - spikes or running lean } i think theres a cat and an 02 sensor in the center pipe but im not sure , if so what happens with the sensor when you put a straight through pipe on ? .
i may later on go down the full decat and remap route , but need a few other things sorted first . anyone with a bug thats done this mod let me know your findings , ie was there any bhp / performance gains to be had or is it a case of just doing the backbox for now and fully decatting and rempping at a later date .
cheers in advance .

lm not an expert but if you just fit a back box and centre section you wont have no problems what so ever, however if you remove the centre cat you will proberly get boost spike, i did on mine so took it off to be safe. Best bet for you will be to get the above fitted and leave the cats alone and then when you got some more money etc, fit a cat replacement pipe and high flow downpipe whilst having it remaped.
That will give you the burble and transform the car

As long as you take the usual precautions (knocklink, octane booster etc) you wont have any problems just changing the backbox and centre section, its when you change the cat things get a little more complicated.
Timmy, only MY03 onwards have equal length manifolds (and twin scroll turbo's) MY01/02's have unequal.

no worries just fit and forget, no sensors or cats to worry about. The downpipe has the cat and sensor so don't go changing this without a remap as it will boost spike
