HPI CHECK???

HPI CHECK???
Can any one tell me if they know if a jap import can be hpi checked from new? I am looking at buying one but want to ensure the safety of the car as i have 2 young children, or would i better sticking to a uk so i can check its history? any help would be very greatfull.

It cant, no. If the car had been accident damaged then its auction grade will reflect that, but most imported cars have their appraisal sheet disappear very quickly (make of that what you will). Even where a car has been repaired properly (and where its repaired properly it should be just as strong as an undamaged car) a knowledgable inspector will be able to see the signs. It would be worth your while paying for half an hours labour at a well-regarded Subaru specilaist and letting them check the car over.

If the import was new to the UK at time of import then a HPI check will be as good as for a UK car. If not then as above it will be no good for time spent in Japan. Auction sheet is best bet for Jap history. My car was Grade 5A which is pretty good by all accounts

Also be careful out there with JDM cars & no auction sheet. I would never buy another without the auction sheet. Auction sheet shows whether it has been damaged or not so no auction sheet = why not?!!
