good luck on getting a sensibly priced P1 that is in good condition. So many of the ones that I have seen advertised are rubbish You really will need to have a professional inspection done, prices are all going to be over £10k.

A cheaper option is an imported STI V5, they are basically the same spec and a lot cheaper.

its even better as it comes with the DCCD which allows you lock up your diffs, and the type r has a power split of 64/36 rear/front so cuts out the understeer usually expected with scoobs...but no ABS and more power to the back means it gets a little twitchy.

If I was going for a P1 I'd want one as standard as possible. No engine mods at all if I could find one. If you do find one try and establish if it has had mods and been returned to standard for selling.

Mate the P1 is awesome...

I have had a few classics, and the P1 is IMO is the ultimate classic. If not the ultimate Impreza!

As previously said, there are a lot that have had a hard life. If you are patient and have a look round you will find a nice standard well looked after one. Also, look around for one with as little milage as possible!

People like the STi v5s. They are awesome. However there is a cult thing about the P1. It feels special, handmade in prodrive by the Rally engineers. Suited to this country, limited edition etc The imports are awesome, with some extra wizardry- but the P1 just feels that little bit more !

I would say, if you plan to modify the car a lot- then go for the 3 door import- and go crazy. If you want a cult car.... P1!
