Default Power loss and dump valve failure!!!

Hi all
strange thing happened to my 03 new age wrx.
I was on the motorway yesterday slowed down because of traffic and as i picked up i noticed the dump valve stopped working but as i approached 3000 revs noticed a power drop from 3-4k then came back. So i drove the car slowly for about a mile then suddenly the car came back to life again dump valve was working and no flat spot.......scared the crap out of me thats for sure.
Been driving the car easy all day have noticed a drop in performance overall and the worst thing is my warranty has ran out and subaru wont allow extended waranty they said they only take warranties out on UK cars!!!!

anyone else encountered something like this!!!!
thanks

had a similar sort of thing but with mine the turbo shut off at 4500rvs and ecu light came no turbo
re-started it 4 times light went off and then it was fine
took it to scooby clinic and they said turbo might need porting
different gasket about an hour job
but since that gave it a good thrashing and it runs like a dream
seems to me the ecu changes the car to how you drive it but now it is fine
my03 wrx ppp
