Advice for brake upgrade for MY99 UK classic
I have just been informed that the brake vibrations I have been suffering from are due to warped discs. All other possibilities have been removed. It appears that the discs were slightly warped when I bought the car, and the cause may be that they were just cheapo units (the pads were cheap and useless).
I have the standard calipers and a set of new Mintex 1144 pads in them. I was thinking of keeping these and just wondered if there is a fitting kit to get bigger discs on? I am using 17" wheels.
Any ideas? The car is still making standard power, and is not driven that hard so there is no need to go mad.

As you know, you have the 4 pot STI calipers on the MY99 (as have I) and I just got a set of Ferodo DS2500 pads (from ASP TRADING MOTORSPORT UK) on the standard front disks the braking is excellent (I have got 330bhp) and have never had a problem with braking.
I am going to throw on braided hoses and get some decent fluid but feel that is as far as I need to go.
If you did want to go bigger, I have heard good things about the Godspeed 335mm conversion (Subaru Impreza 335mm Kit), however £625 is maybe a bit much to spend if you have got a standard scoob!
The next step is full upgrade to either newage STI brembos (with conversion brackets etc) or aftermarket AP racing, Alcon etc, etc.......however, I think at £1000-£2000+ this is deffo overkill on a standard or even mildly tuned scoob unless you are really brake happy or plan to do loads of track days, do look seriously good though!

Thanks for the advice ppl.
I took your suggestions to the garage and had a chat with them. £60 saw me a set of replacement discs from an importer around the corner. At that price they are worth a shot to see if it was just an issue with the previous discs.
If this does not sort it, I will have to look at one of the cheaper options listed above. Thanks
