What happened to all the Scoobies and Evo's - did their brakes get stuck on or something? It seemed like none of you could get out of second gear....

Hmmm everybody did seem a little bit slow. The fastest car there seemed to be a rather standard looking Mk2 Escort I think he even overtook you Mike if I'm not wrong.

Yeah, that standard looking race spec Escort weighs 900Kg with 500+bhp and has tyres that wouldn't look out of place on the back of a Diablo! It was the ONLY thing that was quicker than me on the straights AND corners.

Stuart,
Don't know what you're on about - it's standard...
Funny as I didn't have any problem staying with the Evo's through any of the fast corners, the only problematical one was "Russell" where they could get on the power far earlier - but they soon got blown away when the tyres hooked up... As for the Scoobies, I didn't notice one that gave me any problems....
As for the R500 - that was a different matter. Could pull away from it on the straights, but by the time I was having to brake for the corner, he was still accelerating ! On the time that he overtook me it was as if I had suddenly selected reverse (as I was HARD on the brakes from 150mph on the back straight)! I don't think he even had to start braking until about three feet before the corner ... Wish mine only weighed 400Kg!
Rick,
It's running a little rich at the moment (still hasn't had the road map sorted) . Didn't realise they were quite so big though. Turbo was glowing that hot that it cooked the alternator and I had to be towed home with lights dimly glowing with 6v! Also did a set of pads in and a serious amount of fuel. But boy was it fun! One of my favourite bits was being a passenger in Simon's Evo VI against the P1 - absolutely totally evenly matched, could not make any in roads at all. Chased him round for several laps until an Astra came between us through the esses, and then we had to concede.
Can't wait for the summer and Donno!
Best regards
Mike R

Mike,
I think the slight matter of 220 more bhp than us (Scoobies) had something to do with going quick down the straights (and by god it was quick), but quick round the corners, I think not!

So Mike, had by a MK II, it wouldn't happen to be Pauls would it.
I have placed an order on some brakes, arches 16" rims and with some wide ones at the back.
Also HOPEFULLY got my hands on a T4 and a RS500 Plenum Chamber, complete with fuel rails etc
So i may be up there with you soon.

Dingy
It was a red Escort with big boxy wheel arches and 2 foot wide rear tyres. It didn't half move. What arches did you decide on in the end?
