My son has just decided he "needs" a subaru radio controlled car for christmas.

Anyone know where I can get hold of one cheaply.

Subaru do one themselves, I've got a leaflet at home with electronic and petrol versions. The petrol one is 4WD

I saw one on the Big Breakfast, either Monday or Tuesday this week
the price tag was well over £150, but then u pay for what you get
and this one looked top quality.

Halfords do Scoob, Evo, Pug and Focus rally cars for about £80 each. Looked good on the shelf, about 15 inches long. Not sure about performance tho'

I think tyamia are doing a deal at the moment for a scooby, i think its avaliable at "the model shop" (BLUEWATER) And you get the car (part built) radio gear, battries and all other stuff to run (its battery powered) all for £170. Not bad. I have a focus one and it is easy to put together, shaft driven 4x4 (i took the shaft out and it now 2wd and it has oil filled shocks.

I got one from Subaru- £400 is alot of money but i tell you what its the most fun ive had in ages, not as good as the real thing though.
Well worth the money in my opinion but make sure you get the petrol one.

Seen the ones that SeanG is on about at the weekend in Charlie Brownes near me.. priced at £75 and they look pretty much like the Tamiya jobbies.. not baaaad !! Not sure what the performance is like, but I used to have a similar RC car when I was a bin-lid and it was great ('til Mum reversed her car over it!)

Might be worth having a look in these type of shops... Oh.. and are there any Beatties shops near you !?! They'll have loads to choose from !!

if u want a really really really really good RC scoob then its got to be the Kyosho ones
cost a bit more but u get what u pay for

can go for a 1/8 or 1/10 size ( 1/8 cost more and a lot more powerful then the 1/10 )

hard to put together ( 3hrs or 6hr for a newbie ) and these engines NEED to be run in or eles u'll have to fork out another £200 for a new one

juz like the real thing
oil dampers
ride height adjuz
anti-roll bars
4wd
disc brakes
3 diffs
2 gears ( an upgrade for pplz who like to get every best thing for the car )

but the down side is that its very MESSY to run and cost loads to maintain ( not sure is this how u spell it DOH! )

loads of different to choose from
can go from a Scoob to Evo to Mclaren

but be careful on the body coz u need to buy paints and need to be very good at cutting and drilling holes for the mounts or eles ur car will look like cr*p with one side on the car covering half of the RHD wheels!

plus fuel is expensive
and fuel comes in many different typs too
some are for racing and some are for power and some are for everyday mess around
from £15-£40 per gallon

There is a local model shop to me (Brighton) that stock the 1/10th scale model, I think it's petrol and it costs £160. It has recently been dropped in price from £200 to £160. I was going to buy one for my self but I thought that I'd be better to save the money towards a real Scooby. I can get you their telephone number if you like.

I got one from a local car parts shop for £70. Looks good and goes well for the money.

My local model shop had 5 different ones from £80 through to £215. I was well impressed by the ic engine models, let's hope he wants one of those next year!!

 

just bought my nipper the 20 quid one from woolies, had to try it out before wrapping it up obviously
missus said shed get me one but i told her to save and get me the petrol one instead.......cant wait
