Default Dump Valve or not?

I am getting a new Turbo classic on the weekend which has the PPP fitted.

I am thinking about getting a dump valve for it but have read many different stories about them upsetting the running of the car.

Ive also read some people saying that it will not affect the running of the engine.

Confused!!??

Can anyone help?

forge do two dump vaves one vents to atmostphere (vta) the other vents to standard hose (re circ) if you vta the engine thinks there is air there and dumps some fuel to match. trouble is the air isn't there cos its gone to atmostphere.

oooh, think il upset the balance a little. ive got a nice simple baileys dump valve on my my99 uk turbo. had it on around a month i think. no problems regards running, but im not an overly enthusiastic driver.

some like some dislike, me personally i like. its not overly loud, and actually helps put off the usual teens in the saxos and corsa 16V trying it on in the "traffic light drag race" (which i dont generally participate in)

each to their own on this, but my car is pretty standard so no running problems for me.

I would worry much less about the running of your engine and more of what an idiot you will look - as said above, if your aim is to impress the 12 year olds then by all means go ahead.

If you want to join the Scooby Club of grown men (not sure if you are out of your teens yet?) .... then don't bother.

Just my humble opinion .............

Just get an apexi induction kit instead. No running problems and you get to hear the standard recirculating dumpvalve.
Its more 'skyline hks' style than the usual ptshhh!

Good idea, just be careful what year it as due to the usual MAF issues.

Personally, mines got an OE valve. Mainly because I've got an STI8 IC on my classic and my old HKS wouldn't fit. However, I'm considering getting a forge DV because you can adjust the pressure with springs and spacers. What I'd like is it stay closed at all times except on max pressure.

So I'll get the flutter noise as I'll effectively be running without a DV but then it will dump at max pressure to lessen the strain on the turbo.

fair point but what about mudflaps, alloys, spoiler, splitter etc. not direct impovements on the engine, but like a shiny engine bay, they if done properly look nice.

Which dumpvalve sounds like that?
I also think that fitting a vta is a bit pointless and know from my own experience that they 'do' effect the drive. (stick the old one back on brian and you'll see what I mean! )

I took my VTA valve off and reverted back to the OEM recirc, if anything it goes better with the OEM valve on it.

you'll always find vta dump valves in the for sale section from people who don't listen to advice. vta = less
If you must buy a dump valve get a forge re circ.

I think what Deano wanted to know is will it affect the running of the car, i.e. damage anything, ill running.

My opinion is bovs that hisssss at the slightest lift off are boyish, but I do like the sound of an HKS SSQV chattering

I'm tempted to fit one to my 02MY but was also wondering if it would affect the running of the car. I dont care what anybody else thinks, if I did I'd have bought a different car (No offence to be taken, I bought an Impreza didn't I, but its true)

Regards,
