why is it that when I clean Scoob and dont leather her off after all the excess water dries to leave white spotting marks and yet if I do leather her off and then it rains 10 mins later - as it always does the rain never dries to leave these spotting marks? Bizarre!

Something in the water I guess...anyone any idea?

Any ideas?

Neil

Chances are you live in a hard water area. Move to Scotland, or somewhere else with soft water, and you'll be fine

Exactly the same thing happens to me and I live in a hard water area. If you don't properly dry the car the water marks make it look even dirtier than when you started.

Is your car DBM or DGM by any chance as it is always darker colours that show it up most.

To remove the lime scale use HCL.

Removes all a treat.

All the best,

John Catlin.

P.S. see the paint, metal etc go as well !!

You could also find that the white spots are thanks to the local birds who are always on the lookout for people who have just washed their cars

Thought it would be DBM, same as mine!!

Because of this very problem I will only be buying silver cars from now on.

If you have a water butt(not a J-Lo butt),and you dont have time for leather.Personaly I make time, and for whips and cuffs, oops getting carried away. When you have finished chuck a bucket of rain water over.Make sure you filter out the leaves and swimming things though.Otherwise scooby will end up looking worse than when you started.

JOhn - you might need a disclaimer on that one. Include skin and fingers if possible

There are new car washes appearing now (we've got one at our local Tesco's bless 'em) that have a "de-mineralised water" rinse option that you can use at the end to remove the hard water, works really well .
