Default Well, the engine is apart!

Bought an sti3 with knocking big ends last week as a little project.
Kent Performance are doing the work for me, I just keep popping in and to annoy them.
Looks like its going to need a new crank, one rod, big end and main bearings.
Not to bad really, could have been worse!

Should be running by the end of next week. Wish me luck! (well them actually!)

Here's a few picys mid build. You should be able to see one of the knackered shells in the last picture.

Looks like a good little project. Why only replace one rod though?

Personally, if one needed replacing I would replace them all.

Good luck and keep us informed

Because I'm not going for a mega build, just standard.
If I replace the rods, I may aswell replace the pistons.....and the then the turbo.....intercooler....ecu etc etc. Must stop looking at my credit card!
Paul at zen is quite happy to replace just the one rod on his builds.

Not so much lack of torque, but a combination of not being able to rev to 9000rpm all the time and being offered quite a bit more than what I paid for it!
They are brilliant motors though, and they DO handle better than most imprezas I have driven.
But there are times when you really do appreciate a good helping of boost!
