Wow, is all i can say
Saturday afternoon, the sun is shining down, not a cloud in the sky and i'm walking towards an icon of
the modern peformance car world, the wide arch driving weapon sits there ticking over hapily.
I climb in and strap myself into the bucket seats its subtle burble is deceptivly quiet, the driver gets
in and looks over to me and asks if were ready to go.
As he pulls off the first thing you notice is the noise, not from the exhaust but the wine of a straight
cut PPG gearbox, as we drive slowly down the road, letting the engine temp rise, its the only a slight
warning of whats to come. Sat cruising at 30, 40, 50 or even 60 mph the car is happy to drive all day,
seeming to have not a care in the world.
A few minutes later and the oil temp hits 70 degrees c, and pulling onto a private country road, the
world become as blur as a seat smacks me in the back. Gear changes come fast as the car eats up the
road, the driver make only slight corrections to fight the stearing as the back tries to race the front end.
Suddenly the driver backs off and says the speed will do for today, roughly ten to fifteen seconds
after he first stomped on the loud pedal and were backing off from 150 mph, i would say exact figures
but the acceleration was so ferocious i have no idea how long it truely took.
The track flows through a line of fields twisting left and right, uneven roads, off cambers causing the
car spend alot of the time airborn as the pilot stears it down the road ahead.
As we come to the end of the track and pull back onto public roads i sit in stunned silence, a huge grin
extending over my face. Suddenly i spot a car pulling out just yards ahead of us, no chance of braking
from 70mph in time, so the driver takes the option to go round, the back end stepping out as it tries to
follow the front, then i spot an oncoming car as the driver calmly flicks the car onto oposit lock and
calmly corrects it back onto the right side of the road. Falling back into line it caries on crusing down
the road as if nothing had happened.
As we pull back up to the start location i get unsteadily out, pondering on the close call we've just
had. But then one of the chaps walk up to me and asks what i thought of it, and i remember back to the
private road and suddenly get cramp in my face as my grin becomes so large i look like the
cheshire cat.
The car in question is Scoobyclinics 22B, Running there off the shelf perforamnce engine and gearbox
package, the SC450.
It has, sat snugly in the engine bay the SC450 development engine, a 2.5 litre flat 4 boxer engine.
Running a custom turbo chargeer developed specialy for the package the engine is kicking out
450bhp and 480ftlb of torque, and heres the realy impressive bit, it has been runnign that,
not only on a top mount intercooler but for the past 18 months without any issues, bar one.
Its very good at eating rear tyres.
The 22B has an adjustable centre dif meaning the power can be set mostly to the rear, hence killing the rear tyres
While i could go into the technical details of the engine and the car my experaince wasn't about that, the
package as a whole can only be described as phonominal, the power delivery, although explosive, is
strong and constant rather than comming in all at once, pulling right through the gear range.
All in all its one hell of a car and heres the good bit, if you drive up to scoobyclinic and drop 15k on
there lap they will build you the engine, supply a suitable clutch and a suitable gearbox then fit it to your car.
Giving you true super car performance, unfortunatly the 22B isn't part of the 15 grand deal.
If you have 15 grand to throw at your impreza then i can think of no other way to go, the power
is awesome yet it has been designed and built to make sure that 6 months down the line you arn't
having to have it rebuilt.
I just have to get saving to have one put in mine now.

Your face was a picture when you got out a bit like the expression when you had just done your bungee jump!
