As title I have had a hissing from this sort of area

my car has been stood for 4 hours and its still there

anyone got any ideas

That's the abs pipe work not too sure what the hissing could be but i'd guess a leak (ok 4 hrs is a long time but you never know)

unfortunately its not my engine lol just ripped it off google images, if its someone on here sorry lol

right the hissing is still there and now the "anti-lock brakes" light has come on and to top it off the car wont turn over,

any ideas????

my scoob used to do this! (95 wrx)

at start up (when cold) you pull off in 1st at normal speeds! and you get a faint hiss or winding noise for about 2 secs from that area you have pointed out!

on the odd ocation it would not stop making that noise and the abs light would not go out!

if you have a look where you have highlighted in your picture there should be a small black plastic box to the left! this is where the sound comes from. give it a jentle tap. it should stop the noise! now your abs light should go out?

i have no idea what this thing is or does? but if you tap it when the noise is there constant it will stop instantly!

after all that, got it started by jumping it and tested the battery its only showing 60% and its leaking, tested the alternator and thats still charging the battery plus the hissing has gone lol
