Default Driver side mat advice

I went to hoover my car last night and found the driver side mat had a hole clean through from my heavy feet All the other mats are mint so don't want to spend cash on a new set just need to sort the driver side one out. While searching around I came across this:
eBay.co.uk: SUBARU IMPREZA STI ALUMINIUM MAT HEEL PLATE (item 120113993378 end time 30-Apr-07 20:30:00 BST)

This would cover the hole(s) and leave the mat looking reasonably good. Question is....do they look crap? Can you think of an alternative?
PS. I would not get STi on it as I have a WRX so either plain/WRX or Subaru logo.

Cheers, Jase.

Anyone got an opinion on whether it would look crap or OK? I am undecided although the missus said 'crap'! The choice is £70ish for new mats or £20 for this heel plate.

I had the heel plate on my last set of mats, and found that my foot kept slipping when my shoes were wet from the rain or car wash.

That's a good point. I think this aluminium plate it the type meant for giving a bit more grip - seeing is believing though.

My last Sti had the aluminium plates on the mats. The mat slipped and the plate ended up jamming the throttle wide open for a very scarey 10-15 seconds. It happened in second gear and I damn nearly mowed down a guy standing in front of an electricity substation having a ***! I dont know who pooped himslef first me or him!! Smoking is dangerous, theres the proof

I wont have another set, wouldnt have happened without the aluminium.

Were these self made mats like using the heel plate from eBay or manufactured that way? Not good craftmanship if the latter.

To be honest mate i'd just go for a new set. 70quid's not alot in the grand scheme of things. All that faffing around with a steel plate and it may well feel ****e under your heels and look 'a bit Halfords' anyway. Wouldn't be arsed with it meself.
