What if...
Hi everyone, I'm new to the world of Scoobs, and already love it!
I have a bog standard my98 wagon and would like to fit a supper dragger and a hks induction kit of some kind (will reserch when i have the time and cash). Will this have much effect without a remap or chip of some kind? And I noticed people saying my98 can be bit of an **** to mess about with. This true?

Welcome mate. I had a MY97 uk turbo wagon which i fitted a 3" full stainless system to and a stainless ind kit. To be honest it felt slower at first as the power moves within the rev range, the ind kit didn't help as it sucks too much air into the engine bay. Eventually i replaced the kit with the origional airbox as i have on my current saloon and both felt much better so personally i'd just get a good panel filter as suggested above.

So keeping it as a standard car is the way forward then?
Do you not get much bhp and torque gain with these mods?
In an ideal world I would like to eventually end up with around 260 to 280 bhp with torque apleanty! Thought that exhaust and induction would the place to start. However i would also like the engine and running gear to stay in one piece and be 100% reliable as the standard car is. Too good to be true?

Sorry i wasn't too clear there. I would go for the exhaust, it just makes the power delivery different and would make a difference with a remap. However I would leave the induction kit and just get a panel filter, you can get a "green " one for about £35.

Ok sounds good, what is a 'green' filter? excuse my ignorence as i'm not too technical, just understand the basics!
One more thing, will the standard clutch and the short throw sports gearbox (factory fitted to my car) hold up to much more oomph?

All I can say is that i never had any problems with the clutch and gearbox on my wagon. Think the clutch is good for about 330bhp. Suppose it depends how its driven though.

Cheaper and better alternatives to HKS.
For a full stainless system try the Revolution exhaust.
As mentioned decent panel filter in your airbox will be better then an induction kit.
Go for something like a K&N, Green, STi etc
Sub - Exhausts Classic :EROL
