Bugeye information wanted please guys!!!
I currently own a 1999 BMW 535i SPORT with the V8 engine!!! Its a fantastic car. However, Ive been offered a swap on a 02 WRX Turbo in blue!! Car is completely standard apart from the headlamp conversion and a Scoobysport exhaust!
It has covered 91K miles but has full subaru history and only 1 former keeper!!!
Now thing is...I had a mint 99 Classic Turbo last year and sold it.....mainly due to the fact that I was offered an M3 Convertible so I sold the scoob to get the M3....
However, I have the bug for another Impreza.....thing is I dont particulary like the bugeye version...I think they aint the best lookers on the road. However im told the car is mint and he values it at £7500.....
Should I be put off by the mileage? What bhp is the WRX running? Does it drive any different than the classic?? Does it feel as quick as a standard classic??
Any other thoughts would be appreicated!
Thanks
Stu

215bhp, 1385kg, compared to 1235kg on a classic uk turbo saloon.
I love my bug, but it's modded. You'll find the std bug slower than your classic was, although better built and safer.
The BM sounds good !
Suggest you borrow it for a day to see what you think !

headlight conversion totally changes the looks of the bug and is a must before any other mod. i have morretts on mine. you have a choice of STI, Prodrive or morretts available.
0-60 in 5.7 isnt bad for standard, beats all non M powered beamers of the line.

Anybody want a can of worms ?
Is it a better overall car than a classic ? Well, that'll get a few responses I think !
Classic - Lighter, so quicker on the same bhp.
- more aggressive turbo action - the Newage is smoother so less dramatic.
Newage - Better built, nicer interior, safer.
but a bit softly sprung unless you fit prodrive springs.
Both are good - depends what you're after !

I'd say it's not worth 7.5K
I would let you have my 2002 STI for another grand, 65,000 miles and 340BHP!
I didn't want the older looks of the Classic, though I think they are a great car.
Better interior in the newage but I can understand unsurety regarding the looks.
