Sorry Mr Evo

Sorry Mr Evo
Coming onto a dual carriageway with a 40 limit I see an Evo in the outside lane. He starts to pull up alongside me just before the road goes to the national limit and I think we'll maybe have a little play as its clear ahead. As he comes level the (fairly young) passenger is giving me the w@nker sign just as he boots it. So, I think maybe I should do the sensible thing and back-off, leaving the kids to their fun.
On the other hand ...
Poor lad, he isn't the first person to mistake my spec C for a standard WRX (its the low-level spoiler I think). Anyway I back off at 80-ish and wait for him to come past me which he eventually does doing 90-odd ... strangely not making any eye contact ... possibly because he's got an Evo VIII 260 and has just seen what a fast car looks like from the back.
I thought I might give him a wave but then I remembered that MLR thread saying they feel its beneath them to wave at Subaru owners so I decided I'd better not.

the fact that he drives a Subaru is irrelevant so jump back into your box Dave
the fact is that the guy in the Evo was showing off, and no one likes a show off, sometimes they have to be put back down the pile where they belong.
The situation could translate to so many different situations not just the 'Evo vs Impreza' tedium

You're looking something in the thread that isn't there. I thought it was a shame he wasn't in an FQ-340/360 as we could have had a more even play. Had he been in a 599 or a 9ff I'd have still hit the throttle even though it would be me admiring a *really* fast car from the back.
Had he been in an Astra Diesel I'm sure I would have just realised what a loser I am in my 350bhp lightweight impreza and hung my head in shame.

It's amazing the way the threads are going on here.
If someone has a little fun with another car. They're immediately like like a moron and invoking "fastest car" threads.
Would make me not wanna post if i'd had a little fun, for fear of bitching.
Spec-cie, shame it was a baby evo. Would've been nice to see how a FookinQuick 340/360 got on.

In these situations, quite common on the bike, i just like to brush my shoulder as they finally hurtle past as though you haven't just hammered them into the floor.
The idignant brush off really winds them up and isn't at all rude.

I'll have to tell my wife that one. She 'only' rides a 600 and gets lots of blokes on their 750's and 1000's trying to show her how much faster they are. What they don't realise is that at only 6 stone her power/weight ratio is better than theirs and she can break waaaay later into bends.

I don't get involved in races but on occasion I have dropped a couple of cogs and put a good few car's length between myself with some **** who starts weaving behind me.
I then pull in and wait for them to catch up (10seconds + later) and let them pass whilst I chat to the wife as if I didn't even know the car was there.
Most of the time, I ignore them.

there probably of an average size, but of course I am guessing whereas you seem to want to know more?
350bhp is probably nothing to the car that you have now / once had / friend has /dream of getting etc but to 99.9% of Joe Public 350bhp is Porsche 911 territory and hence f'ing crap loads.

For bikes, if your mrs can actually ride she could be 18 stone and still beat most of the weekend warriors. My mate rocketed past an R1 at the Nurburgring - on an Er-5!!!!
