hi im looking to buy my first subaru il be spending between 5 and 6k on a uk spec im just wondering what the differences between the years engine trim etc.and can you eplain the my99,my00 thing that i keep reading about what is this? cheers darren

 

The differences between 98,99,2000 is about 12months or 52 weeks or 365 days or........................................

face change a push out drinks holder,and...something else which i cannot remember,oh yes the standard wheels flat faced alloys against thin spoked!..and maybe a slight power hike(Not too sure on that one!)


oh and maybe colour coding on the wing mirrors

 

My 01 classic wagon has colour coded mirrors, dont know when they changed though

 

Facelift front happened late 98, with new steering wheel and dash.
99 onwards, new alloys, STI mid-level spoiler, 215BHP instead of 208. Colour coded mirrors and handles, 4-pot brakes and different seats (height adjust i think).
2000 i think got the reading lights but the rest as 99.

 

MY98 had piston slap problems on some models, slightly softer suspension.

MY99 stiffer suspension, phase 2 engine better brakes, cosmetically slightly different, hi rear spoiler. Different ECU AE800/AE801 seats from STI.

MY00 same as above but colour co-ordinated side skirts, mirrors, slightly different cosmetic trim changes AE802 ECU made it more economical or so they say, upgrade was to source AE800 or AE801 ECU. This gave a better response.
