Question HELP MAF SENSOR OIL

Re oiled my panel filter about a month ago. I cleaned up the excess oil as i went along.
When I accelerate it starts to hesitate.

Looked at the MAF Sensor just now & it's got oil on it!!

How do I take it out & most importantly, how do I clean it??

I am going to think long & hard before I reoil one of these in the future!!

THanks for you help.

Kind regards

Thanks Bagpipes.

Just lightly brushed it with a fine bristle brush, it dislodged a bit of oil.
I then blew on it & bits have gone.

Going to give it a blast up the dual carriage way to see if that works.

THanks.

CRACKED IT!!

No hesitation at all, back to what it was before I oiled the panel filter.

I really didn't use much oil, but as someone on a previous post on panel filters said, "that oil has to go somewhere!"

It's good advice.

Mine hesitates too so also going to check this.

Is there anything other than carb cleaner to use as I have none? Is white spirit or anything like that any good? Not sure if that will damage it.

Carb cleaner from Halfords as I don’t think it damages the maf

Don't know why people change away from the Standard Induction when there are known issues with the MAF letting go if non-standard Induction kits are fitted.

I did not change away from the standard induction. Was already done when I bought it!!!

Anyway its now cleaned and seems to be running better. Hardly put any oil back onto the filter to try and stop any further contamination.

Where is the MAF sensor ? I get hesitation in 6th when I put my foot down, so would make sense to give the sensor a clean.

Cheers

It's the first sensor you come to in the Induction after the Airfilter box. held in with 3 small torque screws.

IIRC the MY99-00(V5-V6) model is most susceptible and contaminants normally FUBAR the hot wire or Foil in the sensor
