I can't help thinking that the design of the new Subaru has been moulded to some degree by the WRC requirements.
Looking at the two main competitors, ie Focus and Xsara they are both hatches already, compared to the existing Scoob which is effectively a generation behind, ie 4 door saloon type.
From watching the "Engineering the WRC" progs lately, it appears (to me at least) that Subaru has been struggling to keep up with the newer models after they were introduced by these other manufacturers...
Personally i think the new Scoob design is truely awful when compared to the Mitsi, its a huge letdown in design - at least Mitsi have thought to include an FMIC as standard by the seems of things, therefore setting out their stall around performance...
Is it me or does the front of the Mitsi have a passing resemblence to a Skyline ??

Evo looks like a Honda Accord from the back.No thanks
Impreza, well can't really comment as I've not seen a proper one yet, only 'artists impressions' but if it looks like any of them, thanks but no thanks!

Based on those photos, when i return to a performance saloon it will be in a Mitsu. The Impreza looks look like cross between an Astra and an Alpha, crap in other words.
Next to follow will be the demise of the WRC team due to the poor sales of the iconic Impreza's latest evolution.
Nik.

If Subaru need to make a hatchback so the WRC version is more competitive, that's just fine by me. You lot can then decide whether you prefer the saloon or harch versions. IMHO the saloon version looked a little dated and the hatch looked fresh.
Of course the wagon version trumps both of them

i guess that is the WRX version in the pic?
i'm sorry but that car will finish the impreza to be honest.
that is a pile of toss and even if the sti has more add ons to make it more agressive etc. they've made a huge mistake banking on people stumping up to spec up to the sti and make them more money
the current WRX is at least not a million miles away from the sti and if you chose to do so, a few little add ons and body wise it's a dead ringer.
that heap of **** in the pic will either be totally different as an sti (not good for the range) or slightly different and personally that's even worse.
still, should hold up the residuals of the mk2

Am the only one who thinks the new Subaru is identical to the mazda 3/astra... did they seriously run out of design ideas that they had to use existing crap designs:

Found some photos of the 2008 sedan on another forum and it doesn't seem too bad. Not sure it will compete well with Evo X though.
