Wouldn't touch the Keighley car, they have a very bad rep. There are lots around for that sort of money, take your time and get a good example. The Chiefs car looks in great nick (click on view his scooby), why not go have a look at that.
Out if interest how can a i.8gl with a turbo conversion have cheap insurance If you insure it as a 1.8gl the insurance might be cheap but they'll never pay out on it when they realise it's been modded

I wouldn't touch the other one either, I know it's a ten year old car but 7 owners
To be honest I'm probably not the best person to ask, I wouldn't touch a car that someone else had modded and I'm deeply suspicious of any car that's sold on ebay simply because if it was a decent car it would have been sold for a good price privately and not flogged off for less than it would appear to be worth.
I'd only buy a classic import if it was an sti, and then I'd be prepared to waste a lot of time looking at skips before I found a decent one. For £5k if your canny I suspect you'd get a very nice uk turbo (99/00) with FSH. Don't get too hung up on bhp and 0-60 times, on paper my uk turbo might be slower than an sti, in the real world you'd be hard pressed to notice a significant difference, and the uk turbo will be cheaper to run and cheaper to insure, just make sure you get a stainless steel exhaust (back box and centre section) to release the burble.
Good luck with your search

Like the other guys are saying there are plenty out there, some that have been looked after. There are loads of threads about Keithley car on here, enough to put anyone off going...

dont touch keighly, never ever! they are bad news. 1.8gl with a turbo conversion? does that mean theyve uprated all the running gear, converted rear drums to discs, uprated gearbox etc. i dont think so. sounds like a cut and shut to me or a ringer.
ebays ok to look for cars, but places like this and autotrader are a much safer bet imho. i was lucky with my uk turbo. got it off a guy on here for a very good price, quite high miles for yesr, but a rebuilt engine only 55k miles old...
anyways moral of the story is dont let your heart rule your head, look around, lots of later classics available for around 5k. if poss, get a my99/2000 one for the 4pot brakes... 2 pots are terrible.
