Peter,
Friday is going to be a tough one because the stages are well spread out and all the traffic between stages will be mainly on one road.
For atmosphere, you cannot beat the Bowl on Sweet Lamb.
Basically, aim to get to the stage of choice as early as possible. If you aim to go on to another stage afterwards, try to leave as soon as possible after the top boys (say first 20 cars or so) have been through.
Make yourself comfortable at your last stage of the day and cheer on the lower runners too. Many people miss this and the less experienced runners/less techno cars can be more 'entertaining' to watch. If fact, best to wait for them all to go through and then the queues to get out of the stage will have started to go down by then.
Good luck, enjoy it and remember, you can never have enough sandwiches in your lunchbox or socks on your feet
Cheers
Ian

... along with a few thousand others, no doubt
Oh, and the usual fireworks, air horns, queues for hot tea, loosing your crew in the crowds, fun commentry.
I remember last year, one whole section of the car park on the little hillock was just Scoobies. But on the really steep bit was just Land Rovers/Range Rovers
Cheers

Copied from elsewhere for all you lastminute.com types
If you REALLY want to go to Hafren(Sweet Lamb) make sure you get in VERY early. this is, without doubt, the most popular stage on the rally. The Sweet Lamb bowl can take about 8-10,000, but it fills up very quick and takes HOURS to get out!
