Default engineering the subaru rally(part 2)

OMG! the poor decisions made by dopey david lapworth is soooo poor for example puting the failed gearbox back into solbergs car in the swedish rally among other judgement errors cannot continue. Thoughts please if you seen it?

I thought the programme was good last night and we got a bit more of a glimpse at some parts and the design people at prodrive, i just think they had some really bad luck in Sweden. Dave Lapworth did make an error by putting the other gearbox back in but in his defence the car was actually a lot quicker on the stage as it was set up for hard ice and only packed up after the stage was over en route back to servicing.

It was just a rally where everything went wrong for Subaru, the most alarming thing for me is how did that starter motor connector come off again with all the techonlogy that is available to prodrive ? That was what got Petter Solberg disqualified from the rally as he was stuck on the start line after the car stalled and he couldn`t get it started again.

They knew about that starter motor connector in service as they couldn`t get the car started due to that problem with a wire coming off, so how could such a high tech motor sport team fail in letting the same simple little thing happen again especially on stage ?

David Lapworth is only as good as the guys around him, he was told the gearbox was good after testing so not really his fault.

Thought it was a much better program last night.

SUBARU are as far away from FORD & CITROEN as HONDA are away from FERRARI & MCLAREN.But do we have prodrive to thank for this? Solberg and Button must be so frustrated with their teams at the mo.

But what a lottery tyre choice is! I mean 1mm of stud length seem to make a huge difference!
I felt the pressure on these guys shoulders!
Regarding the gearbox they had a do or die attitude which is required for winning!

Unfortunately in Sweden they died!

Fair comment but I think we need to see how good this new car is once its reliable, Solberg was pissing the Rally Mexico until it broke!

But what good is performance without reliability? We all know a car needs to be engineered to deliver what's asked of and not an ounce more, but the 06 and 07 models are failing to do that!

Remember that this series follows last season (2006) so we all know that it doesn't really get any better for them.

The first impressions of the new car in Mexico seem to be promising though. Lets hope things improve for SWRT soon.
