Why a skyline ?

Well, it can be tuned to around 600bhp (though 450bhp would be easy to attain cheaply + reliably)

4 wheel steer, rear wheel drive characteristics, better build quality. The list goes on..

Rather, you should ask, why a Scoob ?

Or an Exige for those who can drive.

Still cant see any real reason to own a Scoob.

Dave - the reason I asked why was as in why ask the question....
I would choose a Skyline any day of the week - I'm getting pissed off with my scoob and I am not blind to the fact that a scoob is not as good as peeps think...I wasnt asking why choose a skyline
Bri - u trying to wind peeps up or what?

How much do these r33's cost

STI5 second hand should be had for about £15kish with a few goodies - how much is the r33 in comparison?

I've never seen a Skyline with 450hp so cant be that easy to achieve or they'd do it.

I cant comment on which I'd chose as I've never driven a Nissan

Not sure what the Exige is? - is it the really small car that a bloke over about 6foot cant get in?

If it is - looks a bit of a womans car? and is hardly the most practical car around

Good for track if you can get init - would'nt wnat to be in a crash in it though

Steve - I have considered an Exige. Im 6 ft 3 and 16 stone and it was fine to fit in...
Believe me 450bhp in a skyline is no bother... there was a 700bhp beast at the ring last trip and peeps like Top Secret in Japan get 1200bhp

"I've never seen a Skyline with 450hp "

And with that.. the hundreds of Skylines in the UK running over 450bhp disappeared in a puff of logic.

Skyline.

Though getting 450hp isn't cheap if it's to be reliable.

450hp in a Skyline isn't that fast either. Too heavy.

Needs at least 600

Not so.

450bhp out of a Skyline costs you about £2K (Middlehurst Motorsport) which isn't too much per bhp and is very reliable (i.e not a "chip" job).

450bhp = 300bhp/tonne.. Which royally p1sses on a scoob.

Question

Some strange answers and ideas on this thread!!

I had an STI5(325 BHP)now got a GT-R 33(400 BHP) and the Skyline is much smoother and faster once off the lights. Obviously it is heavier and a good launch is a bit more difficult but nothing my OS Geiken twin plate clutch can't handle.

So the Skyline wins, and another thing is if you are doing longer/motorway trips its a lot more comfortable.

Middlehurst (Official UK Nissan suppliers) do a 500bhp upgrade and reckon it's liveable and reliable.

Wellllllllllllllllllll

Is David Yu here?

600bhp seems to be an accepted cut off point where you start to have frequent rebuilds etc etc etc.

But then I know nothing.

What I meant was I have not personally seen a Skyline with more than 450bhp

I've seen plenty with around 350-400bhp

But not more than this power

Sure there's plenty around - just not seen - there was a Skyline shootout in a mag recently but none had particularly high power that I recall

I'm mixing up the exige then - perhaps I'm mistaking it for the old Lotus jobs - which I could'nt fit in.. my mistake

david Yu - Godzilla - not exactly the most realiable car in the World
