Question

Just wondered, do our cars have any hidden fixing mounts for the fitting of a 4 point harness??

Would help for track days, although if it means drilling, welding or reinforcing etc..I will pass.

Ian, what some/most of us who have fitted them is to remove the bolts holding the normal seat belts in, and replace them with the hook eye bolts that come with the harness'.

The only tricky one is the one on the bottom of the centre pillar. You can either cut a hole in the plastic or leave the trim off.

Hope this helps.

Cool

... Or you can move one of the spacers across to the centre console mount point and (carefully) fit everything under the carpet as per standard. No need to cut anything!

Yep, Moray's right... no need to cut anything. Use the "eye" bolts to replace the seat belt locating bolts and then hook your harnesses into them.

My RA had an MOT last week and the tester turned white when he saw it.

It has no seat belts, just 2 harnesses (only 2 seats). He rang the Dept of Transport who confirmed that this was perfectly OK, provided the belts were BS or FIA marked, in date and securely fitted. The chap on the other end also told the tester that he would have to do the gas test as Non Cat, as an RA was not on the analyser's database
