Default Turbo on Pre 97 Classics?

Had read recently on someone's for sale advert for a 1995 Uk spec car that the Turbo was a TD05 as standard as they came with this turbo standard until 1997. Any truth in this?

So is it possible to run higher boost or are supporting mods required? Any benefits as standard or is it just a bigger turbo?

You can run higher boost, but for safetys sake, you need to do it right - Scooby ecu or Apexi PFC is the way forward. I personally wouldn't go this route until i sorted the exhaust system if it's not already been done :

I've got some sort of aftermarket exhaust on it but with the original CAT. Assumption says this isn't an ideal starting point?

What sort of cash is in an ECU or Apexi?

Scooby ecu are cheap but i'm not sure on exact figures. I think Scoobyclinic do them????
Apexi is £6-700 i believe but don't quote me
I would lose the cat but if you want an easy mot life - fit a sports cat - then remap

Let the research begin! Was very happy with the car until my mate turned up with an Alfa 147 GTA last week, don't fancy meeting him on a straight sprint at moment.

Decisions, desicions.
