Default cost of a rebuild?

dont worry my 2 day old (to me its only 2 days old) 98 impreza hasnt blown up!!!
just wondered how much it roughly costs to have the piston slap noise sorted by fitting oversized pistons?
the noise does go away and i should just ignore it but if i was feeling flush i would prob look at spending out on this.

2K minimum. If a garage quotes you less, walk away.

im not feeling 2K flush

i know on my 300zx i had a replacement engine fitted which cost me £1500, would it be cheaper to maybe get a replacement engine for a impreza? (like i said earlier car doesnt need it but just wondered out of interest?)

2K for a 'rebuild', not an engine transplant.
You'll be surprised what is needed when rebuilding an engine. There's no point stripping down the block, and only replacing the bare minimum. It won't be cheaper in the long run. Do it right and pay once.

Didn't they have a problem with 97-98 cars with piston slap, I thought the oversized piston's sorted it out but the slap would come back a couple of k later. If it ain't broke then I wouldn't bother fixing it.

Just buy a louder exhaust and you won't even hear the pistion slap!!!!

If your really worried about it have a chat with David at API, He'll sort you out but as said, Your looking around £2k
