Default does a dect exhaust mean a remap???

as above, im sure i read somewhere that if you remove both cats you have to get your car remapped?
just want to double check that this is right?

im looking at a totally standard uk impreza tomorrow but the first thing i would want to change is the standard exhaust for a meatier one........hence my question

i would be wanting to fit a high flow panel filter or an induction kit thats mounted into the inner wing (dont want to risk any maf probs so no engine bay induction kits), do the exhaust and possibly fit a (dare i say it) BOV

No it wont "need" a remap. But having one will make the most of the new exhaust system.

From experience it will run fine without a remap.

It's only a sensor issue isn't it?

If the sensors are there without the CATS then it will run perfectly - no reason at all why it shouldn't (only the backpressure has changed slightly)

If your making the effort to de-cat you may as well finish the job properly with a re-map, IMHO.
Ian
Oh ye, cost of a re-map will be around £550-£600, sounds a lot but its worth every penny!

I suppose the theory to this is (this is second hand theory, so it could be rubbish) that with a full decat everything is a little free flowing. Therefore more air than expected may go through, causing the engine to run a little leaner. Therefore det is perhaps more likely. I would have thought the ECU would have just compensated for this.

I've put a turbo back system on my MY99 UK classic, with a sports cat. No remap, and not likely to get one. I run on V-Power, should help a little if it was to run a little lean.

From mucho research I think you are correct.

I decatted exactly as you have done - Ninja Sports cat, Magnex rest and JR panel filter.

Ran fine - 230bhp before Tek3 remap 273bhp after. Doesn't tell the whole story though, completely different (i.e better) drive all round.
