OK, that got your attention, but they do have their uses:
A few months back a mate had his Golf Gti stolen, and currently his insurers are refusing to pay on a 'technicality'.
The good news is, the ****** who nicked it got caught by one of those forward facing speed cameras. Plod recognised the car as lost/stolen, identified matey (who was known to them) from the picture and 'you're nicked sunshine'.
OK so fate of car is still a bit uncertain, but it kind of restores your faith....

A bit of Christmas cheer for sure.
I also heard that all speed cameras will have to be painted yellow by mid next year. This will only apply to counties who use the money from the fines.
