Mine came with them on along with all of the STI kit and wheels, and I like them so they're staying.

Plus, I am getting proper STI parts for mine from Japan so I think that gives me right to have them put on.

Its upto the owners if they want to put them on, so long as they don't try to sell the car as a genuine STI then it shouldn't be a problem.

I can't see the point either. I can understand why someone may want to add STi parts but not badges.

something that's always been done with all makes and models - makes people wonder most of the time but embarrassing for people with bottom of the range motors that look like top of the range except they go nowhere!

Not saying this is the case with a WRX against the STI as afterall a WRX can be made either the same or better than an STI - all down to the individual I guess

I once saw a Sierra Cosworth ( the original one with the big fin ) in Moonstone Blue with 1.6 L on the bootlid, now that made me smile

I think badgeless is best if you either have something to hide or a secret weapon if you get me - either way at the lights they will be surprised

Why try and say it's something it's not? I've never got that either.

I've actually taken off most of the STi badges/stickers. Just too many, shouting "STI" everywhere.

Yip, at least BMW drivers have the sense to tick the delete badges option when they're too tight to buy a quick one

STI parts fine.. but badging it up as an STI is, in my opinion, an horrific crime. As is any false badging on any car to make it look higher spec/faster than it actually is.

Sticking STI badges on a WRX makes you as bad as the 17yo who sticks 16v TURBO GTI badges on their 1.1 Saxo*.

(* insert first "crashed into ripspeed" car of choice)

Yeah, makes me smile when you see "RS" or similar planted on the back of one of the cars, but in a different font/badge style.

Mine is a WRX and will not have STI written on it, the question is, when does a WRX stop being a WRX,

for instance if you change

suspension
brakes
Engine
wheels
etc etc

Couldn't you have just bought an STI, have change left over AND have cheaper insurance (assuming mods decleared) with the money that lot would cost?

Its always happened.

BM drivers putting M3 or M power badges everywhere on their 316's, Ford owners putting RS badges all over their XR3's etc (just ask PPProb!)

Its the same kind of people that buy clothes from Romford market, with Armani written all over them!!!

Each to their own though, eh!

I wonder how insurance companies view badge replacement.
For instance if a WRX was stolen and trashed and upon inspection by the insurers, it was discovered that it was disguised as an STi, would they say not insured as you made the car more desirable to theft by making it an STI look alike whilst paying the premium of a WRX.
I wonder

Nik.

Does anyone out there actually know what STI stands for?? The last time I looked it means Subaru Tecnica International ,which is the tuning division of Fuji heavy industries, they are not directly connected with Subaru. Basically as soon as you put any STI product on your car then why not put on a STI badge or graphic. Its exactly the same as all you people that put on Prodrive emblem cause you purchased a set of mud flaps doesn't mean that your car has had the full Prodrive set up,.Before any one asks, yes mine is a WRX with STI graphics but completely different from standard and if anyone asks I tell them the truth, it's a WRX.

Lets see..

What makes an STI?

Having Subaru Impreza WRX STI on your V5.

And for the record - my V5 says Subaru Impreza WRX STI Prodrive on it.. and I've got PPP.. so I can have prodrive stickers all over my car if I wish as well..

Now wind ya necks in and take ya badge envy elsewhere..

I've heard some people actually put stickers on to get their car to look like a rally car...

Let's face it, a wrx is closer to an sti than any road car is to a WRC car, lol...

I know this is a bit sad but I have a BMW 530D M Sport. The car has lots of M trim internally and externally as well as on the 19" wheels but was boot lid badged 530D. Now it is 530 M. Sorry!!
