Lost loads on a car?

I think i can beat most of these having been kicked in the cobblers serverly!!!
Bought an 18 month old Range Rover 4.6 HSE for 32k Did 12000 miles in it over 10 months (still only showing 28k on the clock) was getting p/x bids of 15k against most scoobies
eventually managed to get 19k as the owner of the garage where i got my sti really wanted a range rover for his family to tow horse boxes in comfort etc. and the cheeky sod strapped it up for 30k pocketing the other 11k !!!
i defy anyone to beat that in ten months......
Did i also mention that even though it had factory warranty still, that each 6000 mile service they managed to find a plethora of parts that needed replacing that werent covered and i NEVER had a service bill of less than a grand.
who said scoobs were expensive!!!!!

After reading loads of posts about the prices of cars & depreciation I was wondering whats the most anyone has lost on a car. Not including running costs just the price you paid to the price you sold it at. Go on be honest it can`t have been that much?

Worst: paid £11000 in 1991 for a new Fiesta RS Turbo and got £6500 for it 18 months later
Best: paid £12500 for a 1 year old 1991 J MR2 GT from a dealer. After 2 years and 40000 miles I traded it in against another MR2 and got £12900 for it
Cheers,
Ian.

Hmm, I bought my 95 WRX in August '99, just before the market went 'pop', I paid £15100 for it! Granted, it was (still is) a minter, but when I (hopefully) sell it next spring, I think I may have lost *ahem* a 'few' thousand on it!

Bought Mondeo ST24 new for £17,500 in May 98(demonstrator with 20 miles on clock) which retailed at £21,000. Then sold it 2 years later for £8,000. Now that is depreciation!!
I was still smiling cos I bought my scoob after that and saved £7k by importing fom holland.

Not me but my father bought a nearly new Accord for 18.5k in March 1999, traded it in for 8.5k in June 2000. That's the worse I have ever seen, it was not even a panic sale he just fancied a change, bought a BMW 323ci instead. Just he got shafted by the same Honda dealer he bought the car from, selling 6 month old Accords for 11k, so depriciation went off the scale.

Had a 96P Primera SRi (only white 4dr I've ever seen), bought it for £12.5K, 4months old as an ex-demo. Did 20,000 miles in one year[1], and traded it for £8K. Lost £4K+ in one year.
At the height of the Impreza boom 4 years ago, bought a six-month old 97MY Sport, for £14,000. Traded it six months and 10,000 miles later for £13,750 against the Turbo. Turbo was £20K and now, conservatively, 98MY Turbos are £11K ish.
[1] Was a mini-cab driver. Only kidding, all my mates were driving buckets that were *always* breaking down and it was always my car that worked, hence I was taxi. Had the car for it anyhow

Spudgun-GTR - out of curiosity why only 3 weeks for the S4??
I had always fancied an S4 before the scoob, what are they like to drive...mind you after 3 weeks you probably can't tell me much

what i can tell you shunty, is that it had pain in the *** electrical problems, a windscreen replaced twice due to it being 'warped', was quick, but felt unsafe over 60 mph.
also the seats(non recaro type) and/or driving position gave me the worst back ache of my life. i was getting numbness in my legs etc
i hated it the damn thing! the bose sound system was great, but thats about it, honestly.

Spudgun-GTR I think you might be struggling to better the car you have now anyway, havn't you just modded it up as well?
There is a dark blue one that I see a few times in Wakefield with a guy in his 50's I rekon, looks awesome. I gave him a thumbs up last time I spotted him, made his day
That will probably be me in 15 years time, taking the wife to B&Q in a 400bhp chariot

Purchased a brand new MY00 in April 2000 for £21,309. Wanted to trade it in against a new MINI cooper in November 2001 (immaculate with 16K on the clock )and was offered £12,500. That works out at £463 a month in depreciation alone!!
Strangely enough I am keeping the Impreza!
