what checks to do when viewing a scooby???

Default what checks to do when viewing a scooby???

right guys im off to look at a 97 (r reg) impreza wagon tomorrow. pretty standard aprt from dumpvalve ,cat back exhaust ,and k+n filter. its done 82k, just had new clutch fitted.
what things, apart from the standard stuff ie tyre tread etc, should/do i need to check?
any advice would be much appreciated chaps

Think theres a buying guide somewere mate try a search!
i will say this though! make sure the BRIGHT button works its very important! lol!

am i missing the joke here or is there really a BRIGHT button........ go easy on me im still a scooby newbie!

97 cars were known for piston slap - do a search. Not necessarily a problem but better to know about it before you buy a car of this age.
Should have had a cambelt @ 60k, check brakes have been maintained.

If you do decide to seriously consider buying it, could also be worth getting an RAC vehicle check done. Costs around 200 quid to get a 166 point check, they check -everything-, under the bonnet, under the car, interior, paintwork, and they give it a quick spin to see if anything sounds out of place.

Being completely non-mechanically minded, it's something I'm doing. I'm getting my scooby-to-be checked by them this friday.

They also run all the necessary background checks to make sure it hasn't ever been written off or anything.
