I'm at work later tonight (copper) so i will check for you and post the answer tomorrow. As far as I know there isn't an actual db figure, just the finely honed policemans ear !!

I believe MOT guidelines now state that if the exhaust appears to have been modified to make it louder than the standard fitment then it can be a fail

There's no formal limit for production cars. It's if the exhaust has been modified to be more noisy beyond an acceptable limit, which varies from one tester to another. Rule of thumb: if you'd be unhappy cruising past a parked up traffic copper's car, then it's too loud. Limit at the 'Ring is 95dB if that's any help.

I have the Ninja, which is loud enough to be heard coming up the road, from inside the house, etc, etc, and at a local park last year i had the lad and lass from Notts Police comment how nice it sounded! We had a right good chat about it tbh, cars, and Subarus.
And i have never had any other comments about it when i have passed Police persons before or since.
I reckon they are more interested in the kiddies who stick large rubbish exhausts on Nova's and stuff.

My Kawasaki ZX10 failed MoT with a racecan on... It was loud - I spose...

Was fine with a £15 baffle in...
