Default Lowered springs on newage

I'm not getting much response in the " suspension " section so i've posted on hear aswell.

I am in the market for new springs on my sti and can't decide which make to go for. I like a lower than normal ride height.

1 Prodrive - I like the idea of anything Prodrive but apparently they lower the car 20mm front and 10mm rear. (not good really)

2 Eibach - Same as Prodrive I believe.

3 Tein s Tech. They should lower the car 25 mm front and 40mm rear. Sounds good.

Any pics appreciated.

The one below has Tein's. (Broadmoor...hope you don't mind)

<IMG style="WIDTH: 480px; ; WIDTH: expression(this.width > 640 ? 480 : true)" alt="" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/broadmoor/Picture516.jpg" border=0>

Mine is an 06 WRX on Ebach springs from Powerstation and it is sitting at about the same hight, it was a 25-30mm drop onto 18" wheels, same design as in the pic. Dont have any pics online yet, sorry.
Hope this helps,
Ian

Sounds like you just want the car lowered, if so, then get the Teins. Don't know what ride quality will be like with those....

I went for #1, and that made it much harder.

Plenty of development should've gone into the PD ones, so it's not all about ride height.

Another vote for Prodrive

Here are pics of 2 MY02 Sti's on STD and the other with Prodrive springs. IIRC the car was lowered about 15-20 Front 25-30 rear, once settled in

is it fine and dandy to lower a scoob without changing the shocks or will it cuase long term problems woth the shocks?

I know with cupra's you are recommended to change the shocks as well.

also, what do you lot reckon to H&R. was looking at these for my cupra at one stage but it was too expensive to change the springs and get koni shocks.

if i could change just the springs on a scoob without long term issues that would be ideal

LOL the struts only have an average life of 15-25K miles, see suspension knock

Your quite right especially as the STi has less travel and much heavier than the rear

Hence why most peeps are happier with prodrive Springs they are Tested and developed with that in mind. They also don't effect your warranty.

BTW

Prodrive newage springs are Blue for WRX's and Pink for STi's. the Sti's also come with uprated bumpstops.

Different springs for MY01-MY02, top mount different size on Rear(i think) to MY03-MY04 uncertain about MY05-MY07 although Struts are different to MY01 to MY04's

IIRC

And include the uprated bumpstops. IIRC not included in the Eibachs

The WRX are £195 inc VAT IIRC without bumpstops so Genuine Parts and cheaper

So my wallet not really hit by Genuine Part Then ask for your SIDC 10% discount. and quids in

I should have said, That was my Old MY02STi after Eibachs were removed and replaced with Prodrive ones and IMHO much better.

Also you don't have to have a Dealer fit Prodrive springs and i've never recommended a Dealer. Although it's not the fitting, it's all about the Aigment.

Most recommended independant 4 wheel alignment specialist, will fit springs you supply

IIRC IMHO etc etc

I have the PD ones on mine and find the ride very good. The car is slightly lower and it does give a nice appearance of filling the arches without looking too low like some of the chav mobiles you see gracing our streets. I also agree that the eibach are the same parts but am willing to be proven wrong. Here is a pic of mine https://www.scoobynet.com/members-ga...es-only-4.html she is the last black one.

from what i understand eibach make the springs for prodrive so are the same item!
i had eibachs fitted at carnetix with strut brace, droplinks, alignment and as much tea as i could drink for about £520, it was noticed by them that a locating hole for rear suspension was not within tolerances so it would be impossible to setup correctly, 10 mins with an airdrill and the tracking was spot on (when i bought the car i asked the dealers to ensure it was laser aligned!!) the improvement to handling is fantastic, the ride quality is more compliant and the car looks sooo much better.
best money you could spend on your subaru!

Totally agree best money spent on alignment and droplinks are the cheapest and best value for money Mod and avoid most Dealers go to specialiists

Sorry not true an urban myth

PD springs are made to prodrives own "Recipe" for spring rates. Eibachs have their own "Recipe" for thier spring.

BTW FWIW i don't work for Prodrive, Subaru or a Dealer nor do I have a buddy at a subaru Garage. I also own a JDM with Coil overs So absolutely no axe to grind

Just passing on my 4 penneth, I have tried both sets of Springs on Very same Car for about 12 months and 6 Trackdays each. As a result I Prefered the McCoys the Prodrive Springs and don't forget genuine Subaru parts and cheaper than the Non-genuine ones, now thats a refreshing change

Sort of.

Eibach make springs for every which make of car. They fit & they lower.

Eibach make springs for a model of Impreza to Prodrive researched spec. They fit, they lower & they handle.

Eibach also supply springs to the likes of Leda, again to the spec that they have researched.

So they are the same item but are fine tuned to the car in only some cases.

If anyone just whacks a spring on cos it fits & it lowers the car then you are missing the main point of what the spring is supposed to do.

I replaced a leaking rear OE strut with a full set of Ledas. Before which I was running OE struts with Prodrive Eibachs, Noltec solid drop links front & rear & a Whiteline 22mm adj ARB with HD mounts. For everyday road use the Ledas are fine on 6/24 clicks & easy to wind up when you want to play. Front springs are 300lb & rears are 225lb & are nicely balanced & the ride height is similar to as before on the Eibachs.

Wheel arches filled, low enough to the ground & handles.

Mark

I agree, hence i removed the Eibachs and had PD fitted.

Due to the front end weight difference between WRX and STi's PD do a different set for each

I always prefer recommended 4WD alignment specialists than dealer
