Be careful out there guys.
In the spring OPi moved me from NU Club to a Highway policy at renewal - guaranteeing like for like cover.
As it transpires - with only two business hours to go - they do not cover track days - which NU Club did.
Coverage not the issue - the fact that the broker aledgedly openly deceived me to get a renewal.
Don't go there.

When not suggest they move you back (at their expense) and then ditch them come renewal time?
It doesn't help much if you';ve got a terack day sorted though :-(
Go through their complaints procedure and then to the Insurance Ombudsman.
Did you get the like for like cover bit in writing?

I'm insured with NU Club, it's great and there really efficient too. Only took 4 months to get a payment when my car got written off, I also lost £1,250.00 off the value in about 3 months of ownership.
Why do they ask the value when you take out the policy, cos as soon as something happens they just ignore it anyway.

Knowing what (some) motor brokers are like more like incompetence than deliberate. Outcome the same though unfortunately.
ca - ombudsman does not cover brokers
Andy Hall - value irrelevant - unless it is done agreed value the ins co's apply market value.

I was with NU through Opi for two years, until renewal time this year. Had two minor prangs that without my persistance would never have been sorted out by NU so was loosing my patience with them, but no where near as much as I did with Opi.
On the renewal forms my personal details had always changed from those on my policy, it took me until the end of my policy for them to finally change my address when I moved, despite 5 phone calls, two faxes and a letter and to cap it all they were totally uncompetative this year on a price front too...doubt I'll bother even calling them next year

Trigger,
Couldn't agree more, seen it done it, have not used a broker for a decade.
May give Rum a bell at renewal time, but I thought they previous posted "uncompetitive" on straight UK turbos.
Rum how about a discount for a brace run by a pair of pensioners?

No offense taken Trigger
Nothing wrong with the Direct Co's...most offer an extremely good service along with competitive premiums...obviously from my point of view, I am able to offer, lets say, a little more assistance and impartial advice ...

Have to say I lost all faith in insurance brokers years ago - no offence Rum, but you sound like the exception in yr field. I go direct now to the likes of Privilege etc. Renewal is round the corner though...

Harj: apparently not passing on proof of NCD is a common problem. Your new insurers will have access to some kind of neutral system that shows all insurance records and they can view your ncd on screen. Thats how I got mine sorted out.

Harj,
Best thing to do is try and speak directly to your Insurer...ring them up, give them your policy number and ask (politely) why there is a hold up - it might be that they haven't even received a request for the Proof Of Bonus (POB)...if this is the case you will be able to instruct them to cancel the policy and forward the POB direct to yoiu at home. Alternatively they should be able to speak to your new insurers to confirm the extent of cover/bonus for you. Failing that ask the new insurer to ask the old one (am I confusing you yet??? ) for telephone confirmation of the exact number of years No Claims Discount (NCD) that you are entitled too...any further problems goive me a ring at the office and I'll discuss further and try and resolve for you

"Customer service is taken very seriously..." as I quote from OPI.
So there, anyone who has had bad service, it's your own fault
R
PS Sorry, forgot to mention another quote from OPi, "if any customer feels they have been poorly treated we do everything within our power to rectify the matter". So, hey, Harj and Tim you'll be fine. Don't worry.

I have spoken to my new insurers today and gave them OPI's number, they are going to retreive the NCD for as I would probably kill the person on the other end at OPI. Worst thing was when I cancelled my policy, OPI wanted an additional £350 for cancelling it???????? I called them and they said its correct, I said "No Way" and then they decide to waive the £350 cancellation hidden fee after alot of haggling and complaining!
Be very very careful lads with OPI! Cheap doesn't mean good service!
Harj.....

Anil,
Just got home *sigh*....I've been out for the best part of the day, so I'm not sure if anyone has called. I will speak to the lads in the office tomorrow and find out. If they haven't I will try and chase up from my end....
Blackscooby,
....take a chill pill...have a drink...sit down and start over....

I have been with OPI for 2 years, (policy with NU), apart from a delay in sending cover note, they have been fine, and this year were over £400 (almost 50%) cheaper than than anyone else I went to. Priviledge were wildly uncompetitive wanting double what OPI/NU wanted, the AA - "we search for the best quote" wanted over £1000 more, NU direct were 250% more than NU through OPI!!
Most companies and brokers (not Tom/Rum!) just got very rude when they were unable to provide a competitive quote, and blamed such a 'stupid' car for idiotic quotes, or slagged NU, a number told me I was wrong/lying/trying it on, and that no-one could be *that* much cheaper.
I would rather have separate track day insurance - at £30 a go, and no risk to NCD!

OPI are S"!*E, got a letter from them telling me they had cancelled my cover, so I phoned them to find out why ? Just to learn I had been driving around for two days uninsured !!! They are CHIMPS leave well alone! They even had the cheek to ask me for money they said I owed them !!!! I also had the NCD problem, in the end privilege had to phone them on my behalf

Have asked OPi to come up with solutions...
...they come up with silence.
In Japan they say 'fix the problem not the blame' which is a good start point for any business serious about customer services.
OPi have chosen the blame route - as in it is not their fault.
